Pictou Splash Pad

Privacy Statement

What we collect on this website, why, and what we do with it.

Last updated 20 August 2026.

Who this applies to

This statement covers the Broidy Park Splash Pad Society and this website. We are a volunteer-run society in Pictou, Nova Scotia, and we follow Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).

What we collect

Only what you send us:

  • Contact form — your name, email address and message.
  • Volunteer form — your name, email address, phone number if you give one, and what you tell us about your availability and skills.

Our web host keeps standard server logs, including IP addresses, as part of running and protecting the site.

We do not ask for, and this site does not store, any payment information. Donations are handled on Square’s own pages — see below.

Donations

When you donate, you leave this site and complete the payment on Square. Your card details go to Square, not to us. We receive only what Square passes on, such as your name, the amount and your email address, so that we can thank you and issue a receipt.

Square handles that transaction under its own privacy policy.

Why we collect it, and your consent

We use what you send only to reply to you, to arrange volunteering, and to keep records of donations and support for the project.

Submitting a form is your consent for us to use your details to respond. We do not add you to a mailing list, and we do not send marketing email — which also keeps us on the right side of Canada’s anti-spam legislation (CASL).

Sponsor and supporter names

We publish the names and logos of sponsors and supporters on our Sponsors page, with their agreement. If you would prefer not to be named, tell us and we will remove your entry.

Who we share it with

We do not sell or trade personal information. It is shared only with:

  • our web host, which stores the site and its logs;
  • our email provider, which carries messages sent from the forms;
  • Square, for donations;
  • anyone we are required to share it with by law.

Cookies

This site sets a session cookie when you use a form, so your details survive the page reload if something needs correcting. That is the only cookie it sets.

We do not use analytics, advertising or tracking cookies on this website.

How long we keep it

Form messages are kept in our email while they are useful, and cleared out when they are not. Donation records are kept as long as we need them for our accounts and for receipts.

How we protect it

The site is served over HTTPS, form submissions are sent over an encrypted connection to our email provider, and access to the site’s administration is limited to Society members who need it.

No system is perfect, but we take reasonable care with what you send us.

Your rights

You can ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email info@pictousplashpad.com and we will respond as soon as we reasonably can.

Other websites

Our pages link to sponsors, our social media, the Town of Pictou and our donation provider. Once you follow a link, that site’s own privacy policy applies.

Children

This site is aimed at adults supporting the project, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent us something, contact us and we will remove it.

Changes to this statement

We may update this statement from time to time. The date at the top shows when it last changed.
